Mounting is the process by which artwork is affixed to a foam board. Dry mounting, wet mounting and spray mounting are effective ways to prevent artwork from "bubbling" or creasing inside of the frame. A more archival form of mounting is known as "hinging", in which the art is attached with acid-free paper hinges to an acid-free board. The art hangs free, allowing it to expand or contract with any changes in humidity. All of the foam board that we use is specially designed to trap and neutralize any acids or acidic gases before they can harm the artwork. |
